Utah Student Nurses Association Convention's Largest Turnout Yet
02/10/2018

PROVO, UTAH -- Today at Brigham Young University over 240 nursing students from across the state of Utah gathered together at the Utah Student Nurses Association 2018 Convention. This is the largest turnout to date. At the convention, nursing students networked with future employers and higher education resources, gained exposure to a variety of nursing fields, and ultimately became more united as a student nursing association.

Nursing students attended multiple breakout sessions ranging from high acuity topics like emergency department nursing and flight nursing, to specialized topics such as certified nurse anesthetist (CRNA) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nursing. The current UtSNA board members hosted a voting session to elect new members for 2018-19. Then, the convention concluded with an address by motivational speaker Todd Sylvester and over $1,500 dollars worth of prizes.

Nicole Williamson, Convention Director, stated, "Overall the convention was a huge
success! I am so proud to have had the largest turnout to date, and hope the next board can improve the convention even more for next year." Williamson planned the convention and wrote a convention planning manual as part of her EDGE Project for Southern Utah University. EDGE is a program that encourages students to become involved in experiential learning. Williamson valued the opportunity to develop her planning skills and encourages student nurses to run for the position of Convention Director to further unite Utah's student nurses.
